Congratulations TLC Graduates!

Submitted by kmsaito on Thu, 2011/12/01 - 2:53pm.

The Teaching and Learning Centre would like to congratulate the 184 graduate students and faculty members who completed teaching certificate programs over the past year.

These intensive programs included the Faculty Teaching Certificate, University Teaching Certificate, Course Design and Teaching in Canadian Classroom programs. The graduates were honored at the TLC’s annual graduation celebration Nov. 18; Interim Vice-Provost Sandy Murphree presented certificates and expressed his appreciation of their commitment to teaching excellence. Amidst handshakes, hugs and community participants shared their thoughts as to the value of the programs:

"I use the teaching strategies from the TCC workshop all the time. They are very useful and practical. I also think that the videotapes allowed me to see what I looked like when I taught. It was a bitter medicine because it was difficult to watch myself in the tape. But the medicine turned out to be really good for me." - Alsu Mazyrova

"From ISW I learned to structure my teaching and how to engage students. That was the core of all programs, in my perspective. In FTC, I applied all the skills from ISW and learned a lot about writing a teaching philosophy and course design concepts. I enjoyed receiving and giving feedback in FTC. The rubrics session helped me to be a fair grader and it was one of the most important things that I had learned from the program." - Juan Corredor

"I couldn’t believe how supportive the instructors were. They were there to help you succeed; I haven’t experienced a learning environment like this before." - Cynthia Nemeth
