Description
Who wouldn’t want to see the students in their classroom fully engaged in their learning? But is it really possible in higher education, especially with larger classes? And how much work is involved? Today, Joan Forder will provide you with an opportunity to explore the research showing that it is indeed possible to engage students in their undergraduate education, to try out a few simple and easily implemented techniques, and to discover the benefits to both the students and to you. By the end of this workshop you will have a strategic roadmap in hand that will allow you to incorporate quick and easy techniques into your presentations that will allow for student engagement.
Joan has a PhD in neurobiology and has conducted research into neuroprotective mechanisms, has over 8 years of higher education teaching experience, and is an Instructional Designer with the Teaching & Learning Centre here at the University of Calgary. But it is Joan’s passion for sharing active learning techniques and for research into effective learning and teaching that compels her.
