Teaching Development Programs

  • I did so badly in my first mini lesson but I improved throughout the process. I am much more relaxed and confident now as a result of taking the workshop. I presented my ISW learning experience in teaching public speaking and presentation.

  • The videotape was helpful because it allowed me to recognize my own teaching style. I got a sense of what my students were seeing when I taught and were able to identify my own body languages.

  • I use the teaching strategies from the TCC workshop all the time. They are very useful and practical. I also think that the videotapes allowed me to see what I looked like when I taught. It was a bitter medicine because it was difficult to watch myself in the tape. But the medicine turned out to be really good for me.

  • Although I had teaching experiences in my home country, teaching in Canada was a brand new experience for me. The TCC observation was most beneficial and practical because it strengthened the theoretical learning in TCC and I was able to apply the feedback from the facilitators to my teaching.

  • TCC helped me understand what being in a Canadian classroom was like. The most helpful to me was the discussion on cultural differences. I am considering taking ISW if my schedule allows.

  • As an international student, the workshops offered in the Teaching and Learning Centre has helped me to understand the difference between how I used to learn in my country and how Canadian students like to learn. My experience has changed my perspective of being a T.A., being in a Canadian university and taking a leadership role

  • As an international student, the workshops here changed my mind about so many things. I look at teaching in a whole new way. This experience has opened my mind to new ways.

Video Production

  • We entered the video production process fully expecting that a credible product would emerge. What we did not anticipate was how each set of professional hands that touched the project would influence the nature of the final product, and embed in it elements that would make it relevant to investigations far removed from our original intent.
Dr. Bruce Clark and Dr. Jennifer Lock, Faculty of Education
  • (I was) delighted with the reliability, professionalism, creativity, quality, and price of the products that the TLC offers. Why would you go anywhere else? It's all right here.
    Carol Gilchrist, Senate Office
  • We were extremely pleased with the video "Motivation: Freedom of Design"! It captured the spirit of the intensive multidisciplinary learning experience that we sought to provide, giving faces and energy to the challenge of designing assistive devices for persons with a disability. I would highly recommend this video for an award.
Marlene Reimer, RN PhD CNN(C), Professor and Associate Dean, Research, Faculty of Nursing
  • Just had a viewing (mini premiere!) of the finished video that Lawrie sent up to me here in Waskesiu! It looks fantastic! I'm just so thrilled to have it completed and completed so professionally. Thank you so much for your hard work and patience in guiding me through this loooooong learning process. And for going to bat for me with the funders. I'm just stunned to hold it in my hand. This piece will be seen by a lot of people I can promise you that.
    Kathleen Foreman, Faculty of Art
  • The team at the teaching & Learning Centre were a pleasure to work with. They were at all times professional, creative, talented, patient and flexible. Their task was considerable helping a group of water scientists and development experts articulate and communicate their message to a high school audience. They were very popular in Nicaragua during their short time as they worked long days in
often very hot difficult conditions without complaint. The videography was really excellent and reflects the overall quality of the production. I highly recommend your services. Thank-you!
David Bethune, CARA Project Manager, Geology and Geophysics, International Centre, University of Calgary
  • Absolutely brilliant. You are a master of modern technology and putting presentations together. I do hope that the content will support our mentors in others parts of the country and beyond the Canadian walls.
